I started a thread on a Billiards Forum recently. I thought it would be fun to post it here as well. Please comment with your own pool and billiards run out stories.

Does Anyone Else know how to run a rack?

I ran a rack of 8 ball this pat Tuesday. My opponent unfortunately ran 2 racks. I scratched on the 8 ball twice, once when the score was tied three to three which would have given me a 4 to 3 lead. I made the 8 ball and scratched cross side I put left English a hair below the center of the cue ball which should have pulled me right out of the scratch. Not with those crappy rails. This was a 2 game swing and my opponent had me 3 to 4. He broke and ran out (one of his 2 - 8 Ball runs) Winning the APA Pool league race to 5 eight ball match. (we are both APA Skill Level 7 in eight ball and skill level 9 in Nine Ball.) The pool table played awful. the cue ball rolled off so bad it was disgusting. It is a Valley Cougar Table which is an awesome table. They even have Pool (Billiards) Balls special for the Billiards League Matches. The problem is the table is not maintained well. This pool table doesn’t even have good rubber on the rails. There are some places on the rail that will send your cue ball into many strange deflection angles.

Last night (Friday) I went to an APA 8n Ball match and didn’t play 8 ball. This is a 3 man Masters Team. We had 5 players there and a friend from my BCA (Billiards Congress of America) Pool Team was there. We decided to play some 5 ahead 9 Ball for $20. I came out smoking. He won the flip and broke dead. I ran out and then followed that with a break and run. I love Nine Ball. I pocketed a ball on the next break and had to play safe mid game. The safe did the job and I won the rack. I ended up winning the first 5 games. Three hours later, My opponent took a 5 game lead and we were even. We called it a good practice session and went out for some Mexican Food. I did not keep track but I can guarantee that both of us had at least 5 Nine Ball Runs each.
