Billiards Parlor

We looked for a cool Billiards Poster for the main wall, when I opened a small Pool Hall about 20 years back.

There is just something about having pictures and sayings relating to pool and billiards in your pool room. It ads that finishing touch and gives it the pool hall look and feel.

I did some research and scouting around for billiards posters and found quite a wide range of designs and prices. I found single posters selling for over $800.00. There were many in the $20 and below range as well.

The poster we had on the main wall of the pool hall was a giant cue ball with A giant cue tip striking it. The cue ball was about to car-em off of a smaller numbered ball and roll down the rail on the tangent line to pocket the nine ball. The poster was titled ride the 9. It was totally cool.

Billiards Parlor. That’s a name we don’t seem to hear very often. by admin on February 15th, 2008

I’m sitting in the “Classic Q” pool hall in Pueblo Colorado in between matches in this tough action pool tournament. It’s almost 4 PM and I have been here since 10:00 AM this morning.

I was lucky and drew a bye in the first round and then won my first match 5 to 1 a few minutes ago.

There is definitely some tough action in this tourney. We have several players from Colorado Springs and Denver and then of course there is Dr. Cue (Tom Rossman) from out of state.

This is the 13th annual Dr. Cue Pool Tournament. By far the biggest tournament in Pueblo and one of the bigger billiards tournaments in Colorado. I think there are 85 players this year which is one player more than last year.

Hanging at the pool hall.

This is how I spent a great deal of my time in my early years. We have many bars and pool rooms here in Pueblo Colorado. There have only been a couple however referred to as the pool hall.

The three establishments that were referred to by that name sold no alcohol. They were straight out pool rooms with a few video games. There is only one of these left here in Pueblo now. The name of the place is the “Corner Cigar Store”.

You will find six 9′ pool tables there and most of them are antique Brunswick tables. We used to gather there on almost a daily basis and play everything from one pocket to ring 9 ball. (ring game = 3 or more players and usually for money)

I had a few gambling matches there that lasted all night and into the next day. I liked to show up early and shoot some practice drills before the action started. There is nothing like a little wager on a nice game of pocket billiards.
