I’m a player, I haven’t played much 9 ball so 8 ball is of course my favorite. I’ve heard that 9 ball is the easier of the two. To me its just a different strategy but faster game. I can see how only having 9 balls on the table would make for a more simple strategy. Maybe its a game for impatient people??? Most people’s attention span can handle watching 9 ball and maybe that’s why you see more 9 ball on ESPN.

Nine ball is a faster game and you have to get shape on the next ball in rotation. You can miss shape in 8 ball and still get another shot. While playing eight ball you have 7 solids that can be potted in any order leaving some room for error. (especially in early stage of game) Nine ball requires precision play for the entire game. I agree that impatient people probably like nine ball better. 8 ball can be tough to watch.

Hi again. I just recently bought two new cues. The one I’ve been playing with is a ‘Custom’ cue, it might be spelled with a K I can’t remember, and the other is a break/jump palmer, a more recent one. Anyway I don’t know a lot about cues. Your question about handicap leagues, I played in an APA League for app. three years and started out as a 2 and gradually moved up to a 4. I have made the 8 on the break 5 times, once in a women’s tournament in Denver which was cool. I have run the rack twice, once practicing and once in league play for which I was given a patch. I don’t have a patch for 8 ball on the break tho.
